Water shortage due to burst pipe

Due to a burst pipe, residents in certain parts of town had no water this morning. According to the Mbombela Local Municipality, the pipe was situated at Manna Church in Rocky Drift and on the pump line from Phumlani pump station to White River.

Repairs to the pipe were reportedly delayed as they could not find the necessary parts. This morning it was reported that they were busy with the issue but that it would take time to fill the reservoir.

Residents who still had water were urged to use it sparingly in the mean time.

On social media residents were also warned by knowledgable officials that the area was heading into a drought and official water restrictions could be imposed in the near future. They were urged to start conserving water, even in times were there is ample supply.
