Community pays tribute to locals who died in World War I

A ceremony to honour local soldiers who died in World War I was held at the local Moth shellhole on Sunday morning. Community members, soldiers and MOTHs paid tribute to these brave souls and lay wreaths on a temporary monument.

Protea The Winkler invited budding chefs to create an interesting and delicious pizza at their first annual pizza challenge on Saturday morning. After judges had a taste, the contestants, along with family and friends, could gobble up the unique pizzas.

Bagdad Centre was a flurry of activity on Saturday morning, when a group of young, aspiring chefs proved their mettle in the kitchen as part of the first-ever Heidel Kids Cook-off. They managed to impress the judges with a variety of creative and mouthwatering main dishes and desserts.

Macadamia Village artists host craft market

The talented artists and crafters of Macadamia Village had the chance to present their paintings, mosaic, knitting and quilting to neighbours, White River residents and visitors from Mbombela during a recent craft market in their community hall.

Member of the Rotary Club of White River and friends were dressed to the nines for the recent dinner celebrating the induction of their new president. A few awards were also given out to individuals that had assisted the club throughout the year.

Shopping, arts and entertainment at the Uplands Festival

This year’s Uplands Festival was once again a mix of fun, food and entertainment that kept smiles on the faces of young and old. Besides the stalls, there were art exhibitions, loads of kiddies entertainment and an equestrian show.

It’s all fun and games at the Library

Board game tournaments, colouring competitions and a bonsai tree exhibition were some of the highlights of this year’s National Library Week activities at the White River Library. Schools, pre-schools and colleges were all invited to explore the library or visit it for some fun and games.
